Suresh Going for Record
Well, it had to happen sometime. Suresh is looking to break my record and go 168 hours (1 week) at the same place he did it before. I guess the rules have changed a bit (they needed too). You get a 5 minute break every hour now. All I have to say is he better bowl more than the 481 games I put in during those 102 hours. Otherwise, he's just too slow.
As for me, I don't anticipate trying for the record again, whether it's 103 hours or 168 hours. I have seen there is a record for most pins knocked down in a 24 hour period (both individual and team). I might be interested in that, at least that takes some skill.

Thanks to My Volunteers
I started copying tape tonight and got a good chance to look at some of the real tough times I had during this attempt. I can't thank my volunteers enough, all of them handled my warped state of mind and fragile condition with amazing compassion while still motivating me to "throw the ball."
Knowing that I can be a real crab without a good night's sleep, I apologized to all of my volunteers ahead of time and warned them of how stubborn I can be (just ask Vicki) and I apologize again for the demands I placed on each of you.
I could not have succeeded without ALL of you! Let's celebrate together the success of what this event is bringing to the people that need it most that Building Blocks and the Komen Foundation assist.
Thanks again!

Fox National News - "Fox and Friends"
I have been invited to appear on "Fox and Friends" on the Fox National
News channel (not the local affiliate) Thursday at 8:40 am. I sent them
some of the raw footage we shot as part of the evidence we will send
Guinness to approve the attempt. There should be a good mix of normal
Dave, tired Dave, Disco light Dave and Record-breaking Dave. The
volunteers helping during these sessions include Suzy, Alec/Evan Flory,
Darrell, Denny, Scott, David and Lloyd. Be on the lookout for
yourselves.

Funny Quotes from Me During the World Record Event
I guess my humor was elevated (or not, you decide) during the event enough that my volunteers documented them so we could share later.
After 23 hours – “God, this was a dumb idea!”
During a newspaper interview – “I’m here all week. Try the veal. Tip your waitresses."
After 29 hours – “I need a 70 hour Advil caplet!”
After 38 hours – “I thought the ball was a head of lettuce”
After 47 hours – “What am I doing with this?” referring to the bowling ball in my hand at the foul line.
After 51 hours – “The lane dots are bugs and when I throw the ball they scatter but then pretend to be dots again”
After 52 hours – “52 hours? There’s 52 cards in a deck.”
After 53 hours – I may never bowl again”
After 59 hours – “I thought you were showing me an animal in a cup” referring to the bowling ball again.
After 62 hours – “Who am I pitching to?”
After 64 hours – “How do you plug this thing in?” once again, referring to a bowling ball in my hand.
After 65 hours – “That’s the thing I’ve lost—I’ve lost the concept that I still have to bowl.”
After 66 hours – “Using a 12 pound bowling ball during match play is like driving to a gas station in a bad neighborhood, you know you’re going to get robbed.”
After 69 hours – “I thought I was in a house in Houston, Texas. I am holding a pair of shoes at the top of the stairs and there are movers at the bottom of the stairs. I am waiting for them to move.”
After 70 hours – “My dogs are barking, how come yours isn’t?” referring to Sydney Nelson’s service dog who accompanied her to the lanes to see me bowl.
After 72 hours – “It’s my version of the electric slide” referring to the quick shuffling I did to get back to my chair after throwing a strike so I could get a 20 second foot massage.
After 73 hours – I’ve been bowling for 3 days, and when I’m not doing that, I’m bowling. Do you like bowling (asking a child)? I used to like bowling.”
After 74 hours – “I guess you want me to throw this down lane 16?” referring to the bowling ball in my hand. I bowled 95% of my games on lane 16 (about 7000 throws).
After 75 hours – “I thought it was on fire!” referring to a reflection on the lane coming from a red light just above the pins.
After 76 hours – “It’s just like shampoo-- throw a ball, throw a ball, repeat.”
After 79 hours – “This is the toughest lane on the planet” referring to lane #16.
After 80 hours – “Didn’t I put songs on lane #15?”
After 81 hours – Wait, wait! I have to open it first!” referring to a bowling ball in my hand.
After 82 hours – “Not be used as a floatation device.” referring to a bowling ball in my hand.
After 83 hours – “You bowl the ball, not roll the ball. You roll on the river.”
After 84 hours – “I thought you wanted me to tune the radio” referring to trying to set the ball down in place on the approach.
After 85 hours – “How do I hold on to this purse?” referring to a bowling ball.
After 86 hours – “I have a big Easter hat on with a visor/umbrella that is getting in the way. I have to wave my hands for the visor to disappear.” I reportedly waved my hands a lot after this.
After 87 hours – “I thought the ball was a printer.”
After 90 hours – “I want my Guinness pants washed for tonight. You can wash them in the flower garden in the back.”
After 91 hours – When asked how my hand felt by Mark Moon, the pro shop owner, I replied “They feel great, I’ve soaked them in Palmolive all day!”
After 92 hours – “I’m a heartthrob!” referring to a digital picture that was just taken and shown to me.
After 93 hours – When asked if I was going to be bowling in my sleep, I replied “No, I am going to be sleeping in my bowling.”
After 94 hours – “How should I play the wind?”
After 23 hours – “God, this was a dumb idea!”

Not Too Late to Donate
If you are just hearing about this story or have been following it for days, it is still not too late to donate. Along the left column, there is "I want to donate" link that will send an e-mail to Building Blocks Foundation that will get the proper information to you on donating. Building Blocks Foundation is working with the Cincinnati Chapter of the Komen Foundation to split the funds. In fact, Peggy Isenogle , Executive Director of the Cinci chapter, spent a great amount of time Friday and Saturday at the lanes cheering me on.
If you live in the Dayton area (or can get local Dayton network channels), I will be on the ABC 22/FOX 45 news morning show IN THE STUDIO airing at 7:30 AM on channel 45. I do not get the Dayton channels where I live and would love a copy of the tape as a memento, any Dayton area supporters available to tape this for me? You can e-mail me at davewilson@cinci.rr.com. Thanks!

Sleep Marathon Starts
Dave Wilson reporting in.... Well, I got home , took a shower (i fell asleep in the bathroom while waiting for the water to warm up) and got a solid 12 hours sleep in before waking to the smell of cinnamon rolls. I wanted to go ahead and post some anwsers to questions many people have asked.
1. How do I feel?
Answer: I feel better today than I did after last year's 64 hour marathon. I have to thank my support team for the constant foot massages. I do not have any numb toes this year, but still lots of swelling. My left hand and fingers are all swollen pretty good. My mental state is like a weather report on a summer day: mostly clear with a few clouds. :)
2. What do you remember most?
Answer: There were a lot highs, but there were also a lot of lows. Sleep deprivation makes your mind play a lot tricks on you. Some are fun, others aren't. The most positive thing I remember is the two donors who put themselves out there-- $300/hour from the time they called in and $1/pin until I quit. These challenges renewed my energy and got me going again. The most negative thing is probably some of the dumb things I said during my lowest mental states-- and I believe all my supporters understand that I was not in my right mind when I said them.
4> What surprised you the most?
Answer: This blog with the webcam. I initially set it up in order let my friends and neighbors (some local, some not) get a chance to see how I was doing if they couldn't make it to the alley. Instead, the media posted the URL and it was getting hit from everywhere. I was happy to see that and I received a lot of additional support and motivation because of it (special thanks goes to the The Nelsons).
4> Will you do it again if your record is broken?
Answer: Records are made to be broken. I hope this one lasts for more than 5 days. I will not make another attempt at this record, however, I have the right to change my mind :).
5> What was your average? What was your highest score, lowest score? how many games did you bowl?
Answer: David Hummel has been nice enough to gather the stats and he is working on getting the last 81 games worth and then he will post the notables.
I will continue to update this blog with post event news and donations for the next several weeks. Check on back with us and feel free to comment.

It's over!
Dave finally stopped bowling. After 102 hours, 1 minute and 25 seconds, Dave finally sat down and cracked open a can of Guinness (as would be appropriate). You would think that he would collapse after being awake that long. But Dave stood around and talked with friends and well wishers for at least an hour. I believe Dave signed shirts, hats, shoes and some of the event posters. For a night, Dave was a star.
To me, he is simply a hero.
Expect Dave to post his thoughts here once he gets a little rest.
